Invigorate Your Practice With Bandhas

In yoga practice, we strive to build energy, prana, within the body and to direct this energy into the spine. We do this in both a physical practice and through the more subtle components of the energetic body. In Sanskrit, the word bandha means to lock or tighten. In yoga there are five bandhas, or energetic locks, and by learning how to engage them during our asana practice, we move into the deeper and more advanced layers of our practice by harnessing and sealing in our vital energy or prana. In this workshop we will:

  • Dissect and discuss each of the bandhas and discuss why and when we use them

  • Use experiential movement, to learn how to engage each of the bandhas

Move into a complete practice, while effectively and safely incorporating bandhas through asana, pranayama and meditation to harness the energetic potential of the yogic tradition

Come play (on hands and feet) with focus on a step-by-step approach. You’ll leave feeling energized, balanced and lighter in both body and spirit. Class is unheated. All levels welcome.

When: Sunday, March 26, 2:00 - 4:00pm
