Hotel Akureyri has a beautiful location in central Akureyri just a block from the fjord. It is locally owned and run and not part of a corporate hotel group. In 2024, the hotel began its current expansion, with exceptional modern design and simplicity. We have arranged all of our retreat rooms in these newer buildings.
The single rooms are in the hotel's “double” room category, but since the room is petite by American standards, and has an American sized full / queen bed, we offer these rooms to be single occupancy. The rooms we offer as double rooms are the superior rooms with larger floor plan and King sized bed. These are perfect for couples, but can also be used by two friends who don’t mind sharing a King bed.
