Deb

Deb, RYT-500, completed her 200 hour YTT May 2020, at Kripalu School of Yoga.  Deb took her first yoga class over 25 years ago while working in the behavior health field to bring stillness to the mind.  As a therapist, she is aware of how the physical, breath, mental, emotional, energy bodies and spiritual bodies are interconnected.  She fell in love with the practice and was inspired to dedicate time to learn to teach others the practices of meditation, mindfulness and moving with intention. She was drawn to daily practice, and increased her studies in yoga philosophy and teachings. In April 2024, she completed her 500 hour teacher training at Kripalu School of Yoga.  Most recently, Deb completed her Reiki 1 training and Hands-on-Assists training through CENTER and attended Ecstatic Dance Retreat.  Her classes are fun, warm and inviting.  Deb continues to work full time as a psychotherapist, study and teach yoga.  She lives in New Haven with her partner, rescue lab and two cats. She loves hiking, dancing and all kinds of music.

Favorite pose right now? *Kapotasana. Pigeon Pose! I love pigeon pose because it has so many benefits, variations and it feels good! Floating pigeons, standing balancing pigeons, resting and many more... It is a beautiful hip opener, increases mobility, reduces LBP, releases psoas, stimulates the endocrine and digestive systems... Simple pigeon is a beautiful heart opener.  I love providing options for students to explore the pose and their bodies in its variations.

Book that changed your life?*Yoga Sutras, for sure.  I'm a big reader and awed by many books, also love The Untethered Soul (Michael Singer) and One Degree Revolution (Coby Kozlowski)

What inspires your teaching?*I am inspired by the healing and transformational effects of continued practice and study.  I mean, wow!

What do you hope students feel after class?*I hope my students feel a sense of balance and are invited to be more curious nonjudgmentally about their practice. I hope they feel grounded, connected, and appreciate the joy of being!
